Movie theaters in Bangkok have re-opened for business after shutting down for months according to the emergency decree safety regulations regarding the Covid-19 situation. The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has announced that the emergency decree is now extended to the end of June 2020.
This is Phase 3 where restrictions are now more eased but businesses must still follow precautions to limit the spread of the virus. There are rules for movie theatres to follow including no eating in the theatre with seats that follow the social distancing practice.
Up to 2 people can sit together with at least 3 seats in between each pair, customers must also not sit directly in front or behind another pair. The movie theatres must be deep cleaned after every movie and customers must wear masks at all times.
A movie theatre in Siam Square, one of the biggest shopping areas in Bangkok, re-opened on 1 June. There appear to be little customers from a number of possible reasons including no new movies, strict rules, fear of the virus, and also because it is a Monday.
The theatre managers revealed that they are fully prepared to operate the business according to the “New Normal” lifestyle. This is to gain full confidence from customers in the safety of using the theatre’s services.
The theatre will deep clean after every viewing using disinfectants and ozone generators. At the end of the day, each theatre will also be disinfected using UV light.
The theatre has also placed protection screens between every 4 seats in each theatre, this will help social distance and to also provide added privacy for the customers.
There are 5 main regulations in the movie theatre. 1. Customers must go through screening which is having their temperature measured, sanitize hands, and wear masks at all times while inside the theatre. 2.
Customers must practice social distancing at all times including when purchasing tickets and while inside the theatre. 3. Every seat and all the touch points in the theatre must be cleaned after every viewing. 4.
Customers are advised to purchase tickets online and use e-payment options to avoid contact. 5. Customers must check-in and check-out before entering and leaving the movie theatre.
