Mountain run-off hits small Trat town

A school and about 30 houses were flooded early on Tuesday by mountain run-off in Trat province’s border area with Cambodia, say authorities.

Overnight rains in the Banthad Mountains bordering Cambodia caused mountain-run off to hit a road, a school and houses near the main intersection in Tambon Klong Yai of Klong Yai district at 5am.

The road was about one-metre-deep water. Small cars and motorcycles were unable to pass through the flooded road area.

Municipal officials rushed to the scene early in the morning to assist motorists at the flooded spot.
