Motorcyclists Accused of Harassing Indian Tourists in Pattaya

Pattaya locals have reported a disturbing trend of motorcyclists and their pillion riders targeting Indian tourists by slapping their heads as they ride past. The incidents, captured on CCTV and widely shared online, have sparked outrage and raised concerns about visitor safety in the popular tourist destination.

Incidents Caught on CCTV

Footage shows motorcyclists speeding towards unsuspecting Indian visitors late at night, with pillion riders slapping their heads before fleeing the scene. Witnesses have noted that some attackers were young men, occasionally wearing school uniforms.

Victims Speak Out

Santa Singh, a 58-year-old Indian businessman, reported multiple incidents over the past week along Pattaya 2 Road near Phra Tamnak Hill. He recounted the latest attack, which occurred at 10:58 PM on Tuesday, when two men in their 20s targeted an Indian national before speeding away.

Thai masseuse Nat, 28, also witnessed such behavior along Soi VC Road, where attackers targeted Indians indiscriminately. She confronted one of the pillion riders, expressing her disapproval.

Frequent Harassment Reported

Tao, a local motorcycle taxi driver, confirmed that these incidents happen frequently, often involving young men in school uniforms. In some cases, the attackers reportedly spat at their victims.

Targeting Indian Visitors

The harassment seems concentrated in areas where Indian nationals operate hotels, restaurants, massage parlors, and tour businesses. This pattern has led to speculation that the attacks are specifically aimed at Indian tourists and expatriates, damaging Pattaya’s reputation as a welcoming tourist hub.

Calls for Action

Local residents and business owners are calling on authorities to address the issue and ensure the safety of all visitors. Increased police patrols, better enforcement of laws against harassment, and educational campaigns are being urged to curb such incidents.

Pattaya officials have yet to issue a formal statement, but the growing outrage highlights the need for swift action to maintain the city’s appeal as a diverse and safe destination for all travelers.
