A young motorcyclist was seriously injured early Monday morning after losing consciousness while driving and crashing into a power pole on Pattaya’s Sukhumvit Road.
The incident occurred around 12:30 AM on Soi Sukhumvit 61/1 in the Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation received a notification about the accident and promptly dispatched a team of rescuers to the scene.
Upon arrival, rescuers found a white Honda PCX motorcycle that had crashed into a utility pole, with its front severely damaged. Nearby, they discovered the unconscious male driver, estimated to be between 18 and 20 years old, lying on the road with a large facial laceration. He had no identification documents on him. The pillion rider, 21-year-old Ms. Sorasicha Krasang, was also injured, sustaining a minor laceration to her left arm and abrasions to her body.
Rescue workers provided initial first aid to both victims before transporting them to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Ms. Sorasicha said that she and the driver were heading to South Pattaya on the motorcycle when the driver suddenly lost consciousness and swerved off the road. They hit a roadside barrier before crashing into the power pole.
Pattaya police are investigating the cause of the accident and will interview the driver once he recovers.
