A drug dealer, two police officers, and two innocent motorcyclists were hurt during a high-speed chase through dimly illuminated streets in Chonburi on the night of September 4th. The incident started when police sought to halt a young man at a checkpoint near a set of traffic lights. Instead of cooperating, the guy escaped, setting up a perilous chase. During the chase, the rider threw away a bag that was later discovered to contain a significant amount of illegal substances, including 100 ecstasy tablets and two bags of crystal methamphetamine, also known as “ice.”

The chase came to an end when the fleeing motorbike, Phakphum Pornsirirat, crashed with a police motorcycle near Wat Chomphukaeo Temple. Phakphum, the two police officers, and two riders on another motorcycle were all injured in the collision. Phakphum afterwards admitted to being in possession of the drugs and was soon arrested. The recovered narcotics, which included ecstasy tablets and “ice,” will be thoroughly examined as part of the continuing inquiry, following which legal action will be taken.
