Early Tuesday morning, four illegal motorbike racers were seriously injured in Pattaya when they crashed while trying to escape from police.
At 12:46 AM on August 13, 2024, the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Unit was alerted to a severe motorcycle accident at the railway crossing on Soi Nong Krabok, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. The rescue team, along with Pattaya police and The Pattaya News, swiftly arrived at the scene.
Upon arrival, they found four injured individuals—two men and two women, all between the ages of 16 and 20—lying in a pool of blood on the grass beside the railway tracks. Concerned friends of the victims were present as rescue workers provided first aid before rushing the injured to a nearby hospital. The police report indicated that the crash involved two modified Honda Wave 125 motorcycles: a heavily damaged blue and black one and another black one, which had been struck and thrown into the grass.
A 38-year-old food delivery worker, Mr. O (name withheld at his request), who witnessed the accident, reported seeing a group of teenagers riding modified motorcycles at high speed while being chased by police. The collision occurred at the railway crossing when two of the motorcycles crashed head-on, causing the riders to be thrown into the grass. Mr. O promptly called for emergency services.
According to Pattaya police, they had received complaints from locals about teenagers racing on the highway. When officers arrived to investigate, the racers panicked and fled, which led to the accident.
