The mother of a university student has filed a police complaint after he was beaten up at school on Wednesday evening and had to be hospitalised the next morning.
Prasopsuk Chiangchaowai, 37, told reporters that three third-year students at Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep beat up her son badly enough to cause internal injury.
She said teachers at the school were uncooperative when she demanded information about the attackers.
Pavarit Rangsit, 19, is in his second year at the university.
His mother said the older students who assaulted him claimed to be imposing discipline, saying Pavarit and other sophomores were not adequately controlling freshmen.
They hit him repeatedly in the stomach, the mother said.
She said her son was taken to Somdech Phra Pinklao Hospital, where doctors found there was internal bleeding from a ruptured spleen and placed him on a respirator pending an operation.
After speaking to reporters, the mother filed a complaint with Thung Mahamek police.
