Monsoon expected to hit Thailand

The weak southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea and Thailand while the easterly wave moves through the East, the lower Central and the South and the Gulf of Thailand with isolated heavy rains over those areas.

People should beware of the severe conditions.

From July 27-30, the strengthening southwest monsoon will prevail across the Andaman Sea and Thailand bringing more rain to the country.

North: Cloudy with isolated thundershowers mostly in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phichit and Phetchabun provinces; minimum temperature 24-26 degrees Celsius, maximum 35-38°C; southwesterly winds 10-20kph.

Northeast: Cloudy with scattered thundershowers mostly in Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Nakhon

Ratchasima, Buri Ram and Surin provinces; minimum temperature 25-27°C, maximum 34-36°C; southwesterly winds 10-20kph.

Central: Cloudy with scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains in Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Phra Nakhon Si

Ayutthaya, Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkram provinces; minimum temperature 25-26°C, maximum 35-37°C; southwesterly winds 10-20kph

East: Very cloudy with scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains in Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chon Buri, Chachoengsao, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat provinces; minimum temperature 24-27°C, maximum 30-35°C; southwesterly winds 15-30kph; waves about a metre high and 1-2 metres in thundershower areas.

South (east coast): Cloudy with scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains in Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung and Songkhla provinces; minimum temperature 23-25°C, maximum 34-35°C; southwesterly winds 10-30kph; waves less than a metre high and about a metre in thundershower areas.

South (west coast): Cloudy with scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains in Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun provinces:

minimum temperature 24-25°C, maximum 32-34°C; southwesterly winds 15-30kph; waves about a metre and 1-2 metres in thundershower areas.

Bangkok and metropolitan areas: Very cloudy with scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain; minimum temperature 2426°C., maximum temperature 33-36°C; southwesterly winds 10-20kph.
