Man suspected of committing suicide after contracting Covid-19

committing suicide

A Chiang Mai man is suspected of jumping to his death from the fifth floor of his apartment in Songkla province after learning that he had tested positive for Covid-19.

Bancha Lertpamarin, 27, who worked as a waiter, took his life around 7 am on Friday after telling people close to him that he was infected with the new coronavirus.

Hat Yai Hospital’s medical team and rescue volunteers took four hours to bring his body to the hospital for an autopsy since the hospital has a strict procedure.

Doctors and volunteers had to wear protection suits and masks before making contact with the body which is the standard practice in any case that involves Covid-19.
