Man Left Bewildered After Brutal Pistol-Whipping Attack in Pattaya, Requires 8 Stitches

PATTAYA, Thailand – A 39-year-old man was left shocked and injured after being viciously attacked with a handgun in Pattaya on March 31, 2025. The victim, Mr. Sunthorn Klonklang, also known as “Num,” suffered a brutal blow to the face, requiring eight stitches, and has urged police to swiftly apprehend his assailant.

Sudden and Unprovoked Assault

The attack occurred at approximately 11:00 AM after Num had finished his meal at a local restaurant. He was about to leave on his motorcycle when a muscular man, estimated to be 35–40 years old, suddenly rushed toward him. Without warning, the attacker struck Num in the face with the butt of a handgun, causing him to fall off his motorcycle. The assailant then quickly fled the scene on a red automatic motorcycle.

Num, visibly shaken, stated that he had no known enemies and was at a loss as to why he was targeted. After receiving medical treatment at a local hospital, he filed a police report at Pattaya City Police Station, urging authorities to track down the perpetrator.

CCTV Footage Provides Key Evidence

Security cameras at the restaurant captured the attack in clear detail. The suspect, described as a stocky man wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and a black Grab delivery rider cap, was seen pulling a handgun from his waistband before striking Num. Shockingly, the attacker also slapped Num’s female acquaintance, who had merely raised her hand to greet him, before making his escape.

Police Investigation Underway

Pattaya City Police investigators have launched an urgent manhunt, reviewing additional CCTV footage and gathering witness statements. Authorities have identified the suspect and believe the attack may have been motivated by jealousy.

A police spokesperson reassured the public that they are making significant progress and expect to apprehend the suspect soon. They urged patience as the investigation continues.
