An Australian man, 50, died after falling from the sixth level of a parking structure at Phuket International Airport.
The incident was reported to Sakoo Police Captain Suphon Mueangkhai around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday night
.
Shortly after the initial call, police, rescue workers, and the Phuket Express were on the site.
A foreign man’s body was discovered on the ground of the parking garage near a motorcycle parking space.
Police eventually recognized the body as that of a 50-year-old Australian man (his name was withheld pending notification from the embassy and family).
His body was brought to the Vachira Hospital in Phuket Town for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
According to witnesses, the man was standing on the sixth story when he shouted something loudly. People who spotted him yelled and tried to stop him because they were frightened he might leap. Nonetheless, despite their attempts, the man died.
According to authorities, it was unclear whether he leapt or fell on purpose, and sadly, due to language barriers and a dearth of English speakers present, it was unclear what the man had been yelling.
According to the Phuket Immigration Police, the Australian guy just arrived at Phuket International Airport
Sakoo Police are still investigating and studying CCTV footage to determine whether the man leapt or fell from the building.
TPN Media says that the dead looked to be the same man whose relatives had inquired about his whereabouts on social media groups in Phuket in previous days, expressing concern for his well-being.
