Sadly she couldn’t be saved and was later declared dead.

Police confirmed both the suspect and woman were residents at the care home.

They were called to reports of an assault at around 12.40am.

A post mortem will be carried out in due course to establish how the woman died.

Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A woman, aged in her 90s, was taken to hospital where she later died.
