A man accused of raping a 66-year-old woman, who was working alone in a rice field, in Si Sa Ket province on Friday was arrested on Saturday (July 18).

Muang Si Sa Ket Police Station revealed the victim had reported that the alleged crime took place at 8.30am in the rice field where she was approached by the man aged between 55-60.

She said he rode a motorcycle and stopped in the field before coming up to her. He grabbed her neck, pushed her to the ground, raping her for five minutes and fled.

Police began investigations leading to the arrest of Nari Singsathorn, 51, who has reportedly confessed to his crime, saying his wife was ill and could not have sex with him.

He has been charged with sexual assault. On Sunday (July 16), police took him to the crime scene for a testimony which will be used in a prosecution.
