Leading Pattaya hotelier says luxury tourism is on the rise

A leading Pattaya hotelier has stated today to Siam Rath news that despite the doom and gloom from many in the city regarding tourism and many businesses having a race to the bottom in regards to having the cheapest prices that businesses, resorts, hotels, restaurants, bars, and clubs focused on luxury and premium customers were seeing increased results year over year despite difficult economic conditions for the middle and budget class tourists.

With the number of millionaires in the world increasing daily they will be flocking to Pattaya in the coming years, said Pornphan Rattanaphitaksakun, the manager at the Mason Resort.

Villas there are being discounted to ‘only’ 9,600 baht until September.

Pornphan told Siam Rath that in the period of 2016 to 2022 there is estimated to be an 8.1% rise in millionaires around the globe.

The luxury end market for rich tourists is split into various segments – Pornphan said that 20% of it was the “special occasion” segment that she was concentrating on.

The Mason website also features a pre-wedding package including a photoshoot for 28,000 baht a night. This includes a bottle of sparkling wine and a replenished mini-bar. It even includes a romantic dinner for two.

A couples getaway package for three days and two nights is priced at 41,999 baht ++.

Pornphan said that “Transparency Market Research” indicated continued growth in the luxury end market over the next few years.

She stated that those businesses that focus on delivering a premium experience to customers with a high disposable income will reap positive benefits even in a difficult economy.
