Indian Tourists Clash at Pattaya Colour Festival, Authorities Intervene
PATTAYA, Thailand – A brawl erupted between groups of foreign tourists, reportedly of Indian descent, at the “Amazing Thailand Grand Holi Festival Pattaya 2025” on March 16. The vibrant colour festival, held at Pattaya Beach, took an unexpected turn when the groups began fighting, sparking panic among attendees.
The situation escalated further when one group returned near the stage to confront the other, leading to another physical altercation. Festival security swiftly intervened, and Pattaya police stepped in to prevent further violence. In the aftermath, two Myanmar nationals, allegedly intoxicated, were arrested and taken to Pattaya Police Station to be calmed down.
One festival attendee, who had been dancing at the time, stated that he was unaware of the dispute’s cause but attempted to separate the fighting individuals. Despite these efforts, tensions remained high before authorities fully controlled the situation.
Following the incident, police launched an investigation and announced that those involved would face charges for disturbing public peace under Thai law, which carries a fine of up to 5,000 Baht.
The altercation has sparked debate online, with many expressing concerns about safety at such events. Some festival-goers reported seeing the groups drinking and taking photos before the fight broke out. Others commented that they now avoid these festivals due to the risk of violence, while some even called for stricter regulations or the cancellation of similar events to maintain order and cleanliness.
