Eight years after joining forces with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office, “Incredible Hulk” actor Lou Ferrigno is teaming up with another law enforcement department.

The actor and bodybuilder is becoming a sheriff’s deputy in New Mexico, the Associated Press reported Friday.

Socorro County Sheriff William Armijo is scheduled to deputize Ferrigno, 68, in a Jan. 16 ceremony at the Albuquerque Convention Center, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

Ferrigno is a “huge supporter of law enforcement,” San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Ian Parkinson told The Tribune in 2012.

Ferrigno, whose father was a lieutenant with the New York Police Department, joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as a reserve deputy in 2006. The actor has also served as a member of the volunteer sheriff posse in Maricopa County, Arizona.

Ferrigno was sworn in as a reserve deputy with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office in 2012.

“When you’re part of this department, it’s about trust,” Ferrigno said then. “It’s not like I’m getting a free badge. I’m a certified police officer.”

Best known as the title character of CBS’s “The Incredible Hulk,” Ferrigno has appeared in movies such as “I Love You, Man” and television shows including “The Celebrity Apprentice” and “The King of Queens.”

In the past, Ferrigno and his family have divided their time between Santa Monica and San Luis Obispo County, where they bought a second home in 1988.

In September 2019, Ferrigno bought a $2.9 million mansion in the hills north of Arroyo Grande, near Pismo Beach, before putting his Santa Monica home on the market.
