‘MVP’, known for his dynamic movement and striking, presented a significant challenge for Garry. The fight required the Dubliner to skillfully navigate tricky situations and seize critical moments. Despite the difficulties, Garry rose to the occasion, showcasing his resilience and earning a unanimous 29-28 victory.
In his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, ‘The Future’ declared:
“I just want to let everyone know, I’m coming for that world title. 15-0, undefeated, unstoppable. I don’t care who’s next, where it is, I’m gonna be a world champion. ‘The Future’ is inevitable and I’m coming for that belt.”
Garry now boasts an 8-0 record in his UFC welterweight career and is poised for a contender fight next. However, the methodical nature of his win over Page has left some experts, including Dana White, questioning Garry’s full potential.
White told reporters he felt the fight was a draw, but Garry’s grappling swayed the judges in his favor.
“I had that fight a draw,” White said. “If they came out and said that fight was a draw, that’s exactly what I thought that fight was too. Obviously, Ian won the first round, MVP won the second round, and it was 50/50 in the third round. What was crazy was MVP had that top position and he gave it up. He could have just ridden that thing out and won the round.”
Garry will undoubtedly relish proving doubters wrong as he moves on to the next stage of his UFC career.
