High-Speed Collision in Pattaya Leaves Motorcyclist Severely Injured
PATTAYA – Emergency responders rushed to the scene of a serious traffic accident involving a high-speed collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck. The incident, which occurred on Sukhumvit Road, left the motorcyclist with severe injuries and both vehicles significantly damaged.
Upon arrival, responders found a black Kawasaki 650cc motorcycle lying in the middle of the road with extensive damage. The rider, a man in his 30s, suffered critical injuries, including a deep leg wound and severe back pain. Rescue teams provided immediate first aid before transporting him to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.
Further down the road, a black Toyota pickup truck was discovered with damage to its left front bumper. The driver, 25-year-old Phanuwat, remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities. Witnesses reported that the pickup had exited Sukhumvit Soi 34 and proceeded in the wrong direction, leading to the collision.
According to eyewitness accounts, the motorcycle was traveling at high speed in the correct lane when it crashed into the pickup truck with full force. The impact threw the rider across the road, where he landed on the opposite side.
Phanuwat, the pickup driver, claimed he did not see the oncoming motorcycle when he exited the soi. He admitted to driving against traffic in an attempt to reach the elevated bridge, a maneuver that ultimately led to the crash.
The Pattaya City Police have secured the scene and are conducting a thorough investigation. Evidence is being collected, and Phanuwat is being questioned to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic laws to prevent similar incidents in the future.
