It has happened. Pattaya is now closed

Pattaya

We all knew it was coming and now it has.

The Pattaya News today confirmed that the Provincial Government of Banglamung and Chonburi have issued the order starting from tomorrow 18th March 2020,  that all venues such as bars, sports venus, cinemas, nightclubs, gogos, massage parlours, Gentlemens clubs and karaoke bars etc MUST close until the 31st March 2020.

The order has been given following the closure of Bangkok also from tomorrow in an attempt to try and contain the virus and stop it from spreading further.

Please note, that this is not an alcohol ban and that alcohol will still be available to buy from your local shop and supermarkets.

However, this closure does not affect the shops, shopping malls or restaurants, as they can stay open providing they keep good hygiene and have at least a 1-meter gap between customers.

The Pattaya News has gone on to say that this is not a lockdown and everyone is free to live their daily lives and move around as normal, just not in bars etc. This rule has just been put in place merely to help prevent the virus spreading quicker as it would in mass gatherings or where people are on top of each other. This is only a temporary measure ( we hope).

So put to sleep is one of the worlds biggest party cities and will put thousands upon thousands out of work and pockets for the time being in a city that relies on its nightlife for over 80 per cent of its revenue.
