Governor Thawatchai Srithong and Pol. Maj. Gen. Nanthawut Suwanla-ong led a crucial “kick-off” event on November 1st, initiating a broad effort to enforce rules in Chonburi Province, in a strong drive against power brokers wielding local influence. For this momentous occasion, more than two hundred representatives from a range of government departments, including local government, police, military, village chiefs, assistant village chiefs, and medical staff, came together.
This aggressive initiative, which focuses on six key areas—drug abuse, human trafficking, gun possession and carrying, gambling, tracking and monitoring influential individuals, and scrutinizing entertainment venues—responds to the national policy that seeks to prevent and eradicate the influence of power mongers nationwide. To accomplish the goals of the strategy, the Ministry of Interior has issued orders for pertinent authorities to move quickly.
Specialized task forces have been formed at the provincial and district levels to effectively carry out these objectives. They have taken a comprehensive approach to improve general social order and security in high-risk areas. This plan aims to provide a sense of normalcy and safety to both locals and visitors to Chonburi. The Ministry’s motto, “Healing Suffering, Nurturing Happiness,” emphasizes their dedication to making sure that everyone is safe and well.
After the event, teams were sent out to carry out thorough inspections, with a particular emphasis on Pattaya, a center where a large number of locals and visitors participate in a variety of activities. The fact that there were no recorded legal infractions during the operation shows how successful the crackdown was and how little opposition there was from offenders in this early stage.
