German man drowns in Phuket

Yesterday, a German dad tragically perished while swimming at Karon Beach in Phuket, but his 11-year-old son miraculously escaped the frightening ordeal.

The 52-year-old German named Jurgen Ralf Wiltzsch lost consciousness at the bottom of the ocean, and the Thai lifeguard squad on Karon Beach saved him.

Wiltzsch was carried to Chalong Hospital and given CPR by the rescue squad after they were summoned to the site, but the personnel was unable to save the foreigner.

According to ThaiRath, the German man was swimming with his 11-year-old son, Cavl Edwin Wiltzsch, at around 7.30 p.m.

The two foreigners found the wind and waves to be extremely powerful. The boy managed to swim back to shore, but sadly, his father vanished into the water.

The man’s lifeless body was transported to Vachira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy. In order to inform his family of the awful news, the concerned authorities are liaising with the German Embassy in Thailand.
