Former motorcycle race champion charged with 11-month old theft. A 32-year-old former motorcycle race champion was arrested on Friday for allegedly

A 32-year-old former motorcycle race champion was arrested on Friday for allegedly snatching a Myanmar worker’s gold necklace in Bangkok’s Bang Khun Thien area last May.

Natthapol “Palm KR” Samutsong was arrested at the garage where he worked on Khaerai Road, in Samut Sakhon’s Krathum Baen district, in response to an arrest warrant issued by the Thon Buri Court last May on a charge of theft using a vehicle.

Bang Khun Thien deputy superintendent Pol Lt Colonel Narongrit Thongpae said Natthapol was identified as the suspect as he was caught on CCTV camera footage.

Natthapol reportedly confessed to the crime citing financial issues and his addiction to meth pills. He said his difficulty in life after the fame in motorcycle racing had driven him to commit the theft.

Police suspect he had committed similar crimes between Samut Sakhon and Bangkok areas and have urged others who may be victims to step forward and file complaints.
