The chief of the Thai Department of Employment told Manager that some employers are still not aware of regulations regarding the hiring of migrant or foreign labor.
Petcharat Sin-uay said that employers need to tell the Department of Employment within 15 days when a foreigner is hired or leaves their job.
They must state the name, nationality and job description. In the case of leaving employment, a reason must also be given.
This must be done within 15 days of the commencement or termination of employment.
In cases where hiring is done through MOU arrangements reports must be made within just seven days.
A contract of employment must be kept at the employer’s office and a copy supplied to the worker.
There is a fine of 20,000 baht if the regulations are not followed, she said
