The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has predicted that heavy rain will continue in most parts of Thailand until Tuesday (25 July), and has cautioned the public to be on the lookout for flash floods and overflows.
According to the department, the monsoon trough, which covers most of Thailand, will bring rain to the Northeast and East, as well as the West coast in the country’s southern region. On Wednesday (26 July) or Thursday (27 July), the trough is predicted to spread to other countries in the region, improving the situation.
The TMD has also issued a severe weather warning for flash floods and overflows, particularly near streams and in low-lying regions. During storms, residents are reminded to use caution and remain aware.
Drivers should also take extra precautions on the road to ensure their own and others’ safety.
In addition to heavy rain, the Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand are predicted to experience high winds and thunderstorms. Small boat owners in these locations are recommended to stay onshore during this time and stay up to date on the latest weather forecasts
