Thai police are investigating a shooting incident in a house in Thung Khru district in Bangkok this morning that left five members of a family, including a nine-year-old boy, dead.

Deputy police spokesman Pol. Col. Krissana Pattanacharoen said Thung Khru police was informed about the incident at 8.30 am (local time).

He said police officers rushed to the scene, performed a check, and found five bodies – comprising two males, two females, and a boy – lying in a pool of blood in the double-storey terrace house.

He said the police identified the five – the boy, and his father and mother, as well as the boy’s grandfather and grandmother.

“The authorities found a .38 semi-automatic pistol on the father’s right hand.

“Authorities are inspecting the scene and gathering additional evidence for further investigation,” he said in a statement today.

Krissana  said initial investigation revealed that the family own an auto parts shop

Police are continuing to search for a motive in the fatal shooting.

All bodies have been sent to Siriraj Hospital for autopsy.

Local media reported that neighbours heard gunshots from their homes early this morning. When they rushed over to check, they found the bodies lying in the house.
