A fire broke out at the Dubai Restaurant located on South Pattaya Soi 16, in the heart of Walking Street. The incident occurred in a three-story commercial building that houses an international restaurant known for its Indian, Arabic, and Pakistani cuisine.
Large plumes of smoke engulfed the establishment, prompting special operations officers to evacuate tourists amidst chaotic scenes. Water trucks were quickly deployed to extinguish the flames, successfully bringing the fire under control within a short period, though smoke continued to linger.
Initial investigations indicated that the fire originated from a wooden column, which caused damage to electrical appliances and an air conditioning unit. During the evacuation, Boonyakorn Singhsung, a 41-year-old Pattaya special operations officer, sustained a hand injury from broken glass while attempting to open a window. Rescue personnel provided first aid on-site before transferring him to the hospital for further treatment.
Boonyakorn recounted that upon receiving the fire report, he and his team immediately rushed to the scene. Concerned that people might be trapped inside, he attempted to open a window, inadvertently injuring himself on the shattered glass.
