Father Confesses to Murder of 10-Year-Old Daughter

The Mueang Uttaradit forensic and police officers were dispatched to the crime scene and found a 10-year-old girl with a cut wound on her left wrist, bloodstains on a blanket, and a fruit knife at a table nearby.

Upon further police investigation, it was found that at 10:30 PM, on April 8th, Mr. Sitthanan, the 25-year-old father of the 10-year-old girl, whose last name was withheld by the police, checked in at the resort where the murder incident occurred with his daughter.

The next day at 10:00 AM, the suspect, reportedly left the resort on his motorbike alone without checking out formally. The resort staff went to notify the guest, Sitthanan, to check out at 12 PM, however, nobody responded to the call. The resort staff went inside as the room was left unlocked and found the body of the 10-year-old victim on the bed, according to the police.

The parents of the suspect told the police that Sitthanan lived with them and the 10-year-old girl after Sitthanan’s divorce. However, Sitthanan had accumulated stress from his divorce and unemployment after being fired from a work contract abroad and he also allegedly suffered from depression.

At 6:00 PM, on April 10th, Tha Pla investigative police were able to apprehend the suspect after receiving a report from an unidentified local who spotted Sitthanan in Tha Pla, Uttaradit.

According to the police report, the suspect, the father of the victim, reportedly confessed his wrongdoings and said that he used a pillow to suffocate his daughter before using the fruit knife to cut her left wrist. The suspect reportedly told the police that he attempted to take his own life following his daughter’s death but ultimately was unable to do so and he then fled from the resort.

The police publicly revealed the suspect’s motive in that he had debt after being unemployed from working abroad. Furthermore, he was a single dad who recently divorced a little over a year ago, causing him stress and to plan the murder of his daughter a few days before.

Initially, the police found no medical record regarding the claim from the suspect’s parents that Sitthanan had depression. The police would investigate further to determine whether the suspect had depression or not as it would greatly affect the case.

The police pressed harsh charges against Sitthanan and monitored him closely as they felt he might take his own life.
