Expressway crash restaurant manager dies

A restaurant manager was killed when his car crashed into the rear of a lorry parked on the side of the Chalongrach expressway (Ram Intra-Art Narong) early on Thursday.

A woman passenger in the car was injured, along with the two expressway cleaners.

Pol Lt Col Pichet Konphaeng, deputy chief investigator of Expressway 1 police, said the accident occured about 3am just before the exit ramp to Ram Intra road.

About 10 road cleaners were working in the far left lane. One of them said the lane was clearly marked by orange cones and a four-wheel lorry blocking one end, with its signal lights on.

A white Toyota Yaris approached at high speed and crashed into the rear of the lorry, which overturned and was left obstructing the traffic.

Two road cleaners, a man and a woman,  were injured.

The car was badly damaged. The driver, identified as Prasitchai Netsuwan, died on the spot from multiple injuries. A woman accompanying him in the car, Chatchaval Thongsuk, was injured.

The three injured people were admitted to Phyathai Nawamin Hospital and the driver’s body taken to Chulalongkorn Hospital for  an autopsy.

Prasitchai was manager of the Lax RCA restaurant in Huay Khwang area. He was said to be a former model and former star of the month while a freshman at university.
