No Thai’s injured in ‘Las Vegas’ mass shooting

In the wake of the horrific mass shooting at Route 91 Harvest Festival, a country music event in Las Vegas, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Los Angeles has said they haven’t received reports of Thai citizens being injured or killed in the shooting, which is being regarded as the deadliest in modern U.S. history.

The statement issued this morning said, “The Royal Thai Consulate-General has contacted local agencies, the Thai-American community, and Thai language media in Las Vegas and has not identified any fatalities or injuries involving Thai nationals.”

“Persons who have information or wish to check for Thai nationals who may be fatally wounded or injured from this incident may submit the name in English of the persons [possibly] involved in the incident at the Consulate’s 24-hour hotline: (323) 580-4222.”

Meanwhile, well-known online groups of Thais in the States have not created posts that indicate any Thai people may have attended or been hurt at the event.

On the night of Oct. 1, a gunman on the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino fired gunshots into the crowd of 22,000 people attending the outdoor concert, leaving at least 59 people dead and at least 527 injured.

The shooter has been identified as Stephen Paddock, 64, who was found dead in his hotel room with 23 firearms. Police believe Paddock acted alone and committed suicide after the attack. Source: Coconuts Bangkok
