Need for Pattaya to be more accessible to the elderly?

In a bid to become even more of a family-friendly destination than ever before, Pattaya has announced that they are constructing facilities so that the elderly and persons with disabilities can enjoy the pleasures of the seaside resort city, also known as sin city due to its sleazy vibe and endless girly bars.

Two organizations, The Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration and the Friendly Design For All Foundation, announced on Thursday that they are starting a project to make tourist sites for accessible for those with special needs, according to Thai News Bureau.

They have not yet released details about what structures they plan to build, on what time frame, or for what budget.

While we realize that everyone that visits Pattaya has some sort of needs, the idea behind this is to help everyone — regardless of age and physical ability — travel conveniently and safely in Pattaya, one of the Asia’s most famous red-light districts. It’s interesting that they are not developing these facilities somewhere like Ayutthaya or at any of Bangkok’s famed temples. Don’t elderly and disabled patrons want to visit those sites as well?
