Indian doctors slaps a ‘possessed’ patient in bizarre exorcism

A doctor provides his own unique brand of treatment by slapping a 'possessed' patient in India

A doctor was investigated after being filmed SLAPPING a female patient – after her family complained she was ‘possessed’.

The woman was taken to Barmer district hospital in Rajasthan, India, after she fainted at home while cooking.

Relatives feared she was in a trance after succumbing to an evil poltergeist rumoured to have been terrorising the village by approaching women from behind and grabbing their backs.

As the woman in a red sari lay lifeless on a stretcher, Dr Surendra Bahri yanked her up by the hair and dealt a powerful backhand then forehead slap across her face.

But she still did not come round, and was left to sleep it off on the hospital bed while her family lit incense to supposedly ward away the evil spirits.

Shockingly, a number of junior medics in uniform are present while Dr Bahri slaps the woman.

Hospital authorities have ordered an inquiry into the case after the footage emerged appearing to show Dr Bahri going against medical procedures.

Hemraj, Superintendent of the district hospital, said: ”When the matter came into our notice, a three-member committee was set up to inquire the incident. The report will be forwarded to the directorate of medical and health in Jaipur.’’

Dr Bahri was removed from the hospital and ordered to report to the helath department headquarters.

The woman was discharged later that evening but the family have not complained about the unorthodox treatment.

Dr Bahri said he did not recall hitting the woman – and blamed a ‘’strange heaviness in his head’’ that overcame him when treating her.

He said: ”I felt dizzy and don’t remember what I did to her.’’

Superstitious villagers in the Bahmer region believe a ghost is stalking woman, nipping their hair and leaving marks on their bodies.

But Barmer Police Spt Gagandeep Singla dismissed the fears as ‘’nonsense’’ and urged anyone felling ill to visit hospitals for proper treatment.
