Grand Chamberlain chairs funeral service for hero diver

The Grand Chamberlain Pol Lt-General Sakonkhet Chantra chaired the funeral service of former Navy SEALs diver Petty Officer First Class Samarn Kunun in Roi Et province for the second night on Sunday.

 

Samarn died early on Friday during a diving operation to make preparations for the evacuation of 12 young footballers and their coach trapped inside the Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai.

His Majesty the King sent the Grand Chamberlain to preside over the praying rites at the Wat Ban Nong Khu in Tambon Muang Hong in Chaturaphak Piman district.

The Roi Et monastic chief was the presiding monk for the rite.

The rite was attended by a lot of representatives from both private sector nd government agencies.

After the praying rite, Krungthai Bank and Dhipaya Insurance Co Ltd gave Samarn’s wife Waleeporn Kunan Bt100,000 as appreciation for the heroic deed of her late husband.
