Finish man survives fall from building in Pattaya

A Finnish national was found lying seriously injured on the ground floor of a two-storey building under renovation in south Pattaya early on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place on August 8th and Police said the victim, Hussein Maher, 61, was believed to have fallen from the second floor.

The Sawang Boribun Thammasathan rescue unit’s radio centre was advised around 2.30am that a foreign man had fallen from the second floor of Midnight Mall on Soi BJ in tambon Nong Preu of Bang Lamung district.

When a rescue team arrived at the scene the man was amazingly still alive, but was lying in a shocked state with multiple injuries and breathing shallowly, police said.

The man was given emergency first aid before he was rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Police said an unidentified friend of the victim told the authorities that Mr Maher was the owner of the building and had possibly missed a step and fallen while inspecting the renovations. Police have taken the statement, but will not be jumping to any conclusions regarding the incident until they have spoken to the victim.

Unfortunately for police, Mr. Maher was in no state to take any questions or make a statement to police. Instead, they will wait until he has made a full recovery, before continuing with the investigation.
