In what she describes as “without a doubt” the biggest fight of her career, Ellie Scotney, the 26-year-old from London, is gearing up to face Segolene Lefebvre in their world super-bantamweight title unification bout.
Scotney, who hails from a large family, credits her upbringing for instilling in her a sense of grit and determination. Raised by her mother alongside six siblings, she learned the value of hard work and resilience from a young age.
Reflecting on her upbringing, Scotney shared, “My mum went without so we could have everything, so giving back is first and foremost in my mind.” With her family’s support, including her Uber driver brother, and her mother’s birthday coinciding with the fight, Scotney aims to make her loved ones proud with a victory in the ring.
Acknowledging the significance of the bout, Scotney emphasized, “Every fight is massive, but this is my biggest stage.” Having won all eight of her professional bouts, Scotney faces a formidable opponent in Lefebvre, who boasts an undefeated record of 18 wins.
Prepared for a tough fight, Scotney’s training under Shane McGuigan has elevated her skills to new heights. While she anticipates going the full 10 rounds, Scotney is confident in her ability to deliver a knockout blow if necessary.
As for Lefebvre, she remains undaunted by the partisan atmosphere and is determined to showcase the prowess of French boxing on the global stage. “I am not here to surrender my belt but to bring them both back to France,” she declared.
With both fighters poised for an electrifying showdown, the unification bout promises to deliver thrilling action and unforgettable moments in the ring.
