Duo arrested in Pattaya wanted in China

According to the Immigration Bureau, a Chinese couple has been arrested for allegedly running fraudulent investment schemes in China that caused more than 1.5 billion baht in damage.

The arrest was revealed on Tuesday during a briefing by the Bureau’s commissioner, Pol Lt Gen Pakphumpipat Sajjapan, on a crackdown on foreign criminals who had fled to Thailand.

He stated that the arrest was conducted at the behest of Chinese officials, who stated that the couple were thought to have fled to Thailand after defrauding people out of 1.5 billion baht.

Police tracked them down to a hotel in Pattaya and canceled their visas before handing them over for further proceedings, according to Pol Lt Gen Pakphumpipat.

He stated that another Chinese person was apprehended for concealing assets worth 600 million baht obtained from her husband’s unlawful gaming website. The 29-year-old woman fled to Thailand, while her husband is said to be in Singapore.

In addition, a 37-year-old South Korean man sought in his native country for importing methamphetamine was detained for overstaying his visa, which had expired in September of last year, according to the commissioner.
