Dana White Rants About Jon Jones' Ranking in UFC

Dana White is not pleased with the latest UFC pound-for-pound rankings, launching into one of his most passionate rants concerning Jon Jones’ position.

As the premier organization in mixed martial arts, the UFC’s pound-for-pound rankings often spark debates among fans and fighters alike. However, it’s rare for the UFC president to lose his temper over these rankings—until now.

White reacted strongly after it was announced that Jon Jones is ranked third, trailing behind Islam Makhachev and Alex Pereira. A long-time supporter of Jones, whom he has referred to as the greatest fighter of all time, White feels that the ranking is unjust.

Jones, who has only one loss in his career and hasn’t fought since March 2023 due to a pectoral injury, is still ranked above rising stars like Ilia Topuria and Dricus Du Plessis. White firmly believes that the 37-year-old should hold the top position.

In a conversation with Kevin Iole, White stated: “Jon Jones is ranked number three pound-for-pound in the world. The most f****** ridiculous, embarrassing, stupid, know-nothing-about-f******-fighting ranking of all time. Jon Jones is the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world, period, end of story. To have anybody above Jon Jones right now shows that you know absolutely f****** nothing.”

He added, “It’s undebatable. Anyone who tries to debate this with me is just hating on Jon Jones because they don’t like him as a person. These are f****** facts. It’s not like Jon and I have this unbelievable relationship, but what I’m saying about him is undebatable. He’s the baddest dude to ever walk the face of the Earth in combat sports.”

The rise of British fighter Tom Aspinall has also stirred discussions about Jones’ position as the heavyweight number one. Fans are eager to see a matchup between the two, but Jones is scheduled to face Stipe Miocic in November instead.
