A mesmerising neon light show marked the re-opening of backpacker Mecca Khaosan Road in Bangkok, Thailand.
The iconic street had been closed at the start of the year for renovations but it remained shuttered due to the pandemic travel restrictions.
However, a seven-day event called the ‘Hide and Seek Night Walk With Lighting Installation’ was laid on to encourage visitors back to the area.
It includes neon light installations, music, tours, food, and art workshops.
Locals also created booths showing the history of the road, which is internationally known as the Thai capital’s main party destination for backpackers and travellers.
Government officials have spent 48 million Thai Baht on the renovations, which they hope will attract more tourists once borders re-opening following the Covid-19 travel restrictions.
Prayut Chan-o-cha gave a speech from Khaosan Road on October 31 expressing his hope for the future of the street.
