Chonburi Police commander to be transferred after extorting 140 million baht from online gaming suspects

The Chonburi Provincial Police Commander, who is suspected of extorting 140 million baht from customers of illicit online gambling businesses, will be moved to an inactive position while the inquiry is ongoing.The Chonburi Provincial Police Commander Major General Kamphon Leelaprapaporn and other pertinent police who are allegedly connected to the case are preparing to receive a transfer order.

According to the National Police spokesman Lieutenant General Archayanon Kraithong, who spoke to the media on Saturday (June 17th).

They will work in a largely idle position at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters in Bangkok. To ensure that the probe is transparent, Lieutenant General Archayanon said that they would no longer be functioning in their existing roles.

Although a replacement for the Commander has not yet been officially named, the probe is apparently involving Surachate Hakparn, a well-known Thai police officer and corruption fighter better known by his stage as Big Joke.As of the time of publication, the police who are conducting the inquiry have not made any public statements.
