Chelsea vs Malmo – Kick Off 20:00
Maurizio Sarri – Clash 1 of his Special 3 Game Mini Challenge
The story so far: Away to Malmo Malmo, in the first part of his ‘Three Big Clashes to Save his Job’ Chelsea won 2-1. But it’s only half-time. Tonight it’s unthinkable that Chelsea could lose but a lot of thoughts will be about Sunday’s big game at Wembley.
Note: Even though Malmo is a two-leg affair for this exercise it’s considered as one overall game for the three-game challenge. Tonight is the completion of game one
Game 2 – Mission Unaccomplished!
Monday nights FA Cup clash against Manchester United turned into a total ‘Sarri Ball’ failure as United dominated a game where they only had 33% possession. Sarri commented that his team played ‘confused football.’ Many might say that reflected his management! Totally confused, with substitutes that made no sense, and his perseverance with Jorginho. His non-play-making play-maker.
Abramovich Hands Off!
Roman Abramovich, who has complications with his UK visa, is having a ‘hands off’ Chelsea season and hasn’t attended a match in London this season. Bad news for Chelsea fans as the old Abramovich might have pulled the plug by now. Plans for a new stadium, or a Stamford Bridge extension, are on hold.
Being on hold sums up Chelsea right now. Abramovich, Sarri, Eden Hazzard, Zidane, Hudson-Odoi, and Stamford Bridge. The fans must be wondering what’s happening?
Two Away Goals
With the comfort of two away goals, Sarri should be in a 1-1 position tonight with two games of his mini challenge complete.
Game 3, the big one in the vast spaces at Wembley against Manchester City, could mean curtains if rampant City go on another goal bender. Although there is talk about a job for him at Roma.
