Cannabis Warehouse goes up in Smoke

A fire at a warehouse in Srisoonthorn early this morning destroyed over 3 million baht worth of cannabis. The blaze occurred at a facility owned by J.L. Development in Moo 4, with the fire reported just before 7:30 AM.

Police and firefighters from Srisoonthorn and Cheng Talay Municipalities responded swiftly, managing to control the fire after battling it for more than 30 minutes. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

The warehouse, used for cannabis cultivation, featured an automated electrical system for water and temperature regulation. Authorities suspect that a malfunction in this system may have triggered the fire. Forensic officers are currently investigating the exact cause.

The warehouse was rented by a man named Isarapong, who had been growing cannabis there for about a year. The financial loss due to the fire is estimated to exceed 3 million baht (approximately US$90,190), according to The Phuket News. Investigations are ongoing to confirm the cause and assess the total damage.
