A taxi driver wanted for the alleged detention and forcible rape of a woman in Bangk’s Bung Kum district has been arrested nearly three years later.

Crime Suppression Division police apprehended Chaiyot Pantaeng, 42, at Prasit Nanukit intersection in Navamin area of Bung Kum district on Tuesday.

Mr Chaiyot, a taxi driver, was wanted on a warrant issued by the Criminal Court on Sept 27, 2017 on charges of illegally detaining and forcibly raping a person not in a position to resist.

Acording to police, Mr Chaiyot parked his taxi near a massage shop in Chok Chai 4 area around 10pm on May 29, 2017. When the plaintiff emerged from the shop, he allegedly forced her into his taxi, tying her hands with some cloth. The suspect then took her to his room, where he allegedly raped her several times before taking her back to the massage shop the following day.

CSD investigators finally tracked the suspect down to a taxi garage at Prasert Manukit intersection, where he was arrested.

During interrogation Mr Chaiyot denied all charges. He claimed the plaintiff was at the time his girlfriend.

He was handed over to Chok Chai police for legal action.
