Another night, another fruitless police raid on a Pattaya nightclub yielded no arrests but plenty of backlash from travelers.
On April 28, 50 officers from Chonburi and Pattaya raided the popular with Asian tourists Ying Club on Third Road. By cutting down the music, turning on the lights, and making everyone inside submit to drug testing and identity checks, officers ruined the party for the 120 Thais and foreigners inside.Nine Chinese, four Indonesians, a South Korean, and 96 Thai visitors and employees were among those held.
The drug test was passed by everyone. There had been no visa overstays. Nobody was the subject of a warrant.
Police left empty-handed, leaving only irate tourists wondering whether there were better places to vacation than Thailand.
