On October 2, a tour bus caused substantial damage and several injuries when it collided with multiple vehicles, one of which was a motorcycle, while traveling southbound on South Pattaya Road. The accident was caused when a white tour bus coming from Bangkok swerved across both lines of traffic and collided with several parked vehicles, including two automobiles and a small truck. Suthima Prompiban, age 22, was hurt while she was riding her motorcycle and was a bystander when the accident occurred. The responding rescue personnel provided the injured motorcyclist with immediate medical attention on the scene, and they then transported him to Banglamung Hospital for additional care.
The bus driver, Bancha Chaonawan, age 41, who was driving Indian tourists, reported suffering acute disorientation, which led to a loss of control and the following collision. The accident occurred as a result of the collision. The local police have a suspicion that a brief period of tiredness had a role in this incident. Representatives from the insurance company were contacted to conduct an investigation of the damage and to coordinate the legal proceedings.
