British Son’s Urgent Mission to Bring Dying Father Home from Thailand

British Son’s Urgent Mission to Bring Dying Father Home from Thailand

PATTAYA, Thailand – A heartbroken British man, Jonathan Leo, is in a desperate race against time to bring his critically ill father back to the UK for life-saving treatment.

His father, 77-year-old Reginald Leo, moved to Thailand with his wife, Valerie, in May last year to enjoy retirement. However, what began as a small foot wound quickly escalated into a medical nightmare. Doctors diagnosed him with diabetes, and by November, the wound had turned gangrenous, leaving him in excruciating pain and unable to move or eat.

By January, Reginald had lost half his body weight and was diagnosed with Addison’s disease, a rare, life-threatening condition affecting the adrenal glands. His failing health now threatens to cost him his leg and possibly his life.

Struggles with Bureaucracy and Mounting Costs

Jonathan, who moved to Thailand in 2017, has given up everything to care for his father. He is now pleading for help to fund an emergency medical evacuation flight back to the UK, where Reginald can receive urgent treatment.

Despite numerous appeals, Jonathan claims the British Embassy in Bangkok has been painfully slow to respond. He has also explored private air ambulance services, but the staggering cost of £35,000-£55,000 (1.6-2.5 million baht) has left him with no viable options.

A Son’s Heartbreaking Struggle

Every day, Jonathan washes, feeds, and dresses his father’s worsening wounds, watching helplessly as he wastes away.

Determined to save his father’s life, Jonathan has launched an online fundraiser to cover the overwhelming medical expenses.

Hope Amidst Desperation

Jonathan remains hopeful that with proper care, his father can recover.

A spokesperson for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office stated:

As time runs out, Jonathan is fighting against all odds to ensure his father gets the medical attention he desperately needs—before it’s too late.
