British expat dies in Nan river accident

A British expat has died after he fell out of a sling into a river in Nan yesterday, July 7.

The accident occurred in the Nan River in Moo 4 Ngob, Thung Chang District at around 1:40 p.m.

It’s believed that Mr. Michael Guy (transliterated from Thai), 62, described a British national with a Thai wife who had been living in the area since 1998, fell out of the sling crossing the river then was struck on the neck by “steal beams.”

Given a picture from the scene, it would appear that the sling has fallen on him. It’s not clear whether he’s been knocked out and drowned or whether the impact of the sling was the cause of death.

The body was handed over to the man’s wife for funeral rites.
