Before bar closing times are raised to 4 a.m., the right precautions must be taken to reduce societal issues like drug addiction, traffic accidents, and gun violence, according to a public health minister’s adviser on Monday.
According to Vicharn Meenchainan, the proposed increase in entertainment venue closing times from 2am to 4am should be postponed until all required precautions have been taken.
He noted that in order to safeguard clients from alcohol consumption, gambling, and drug use, these must also have safeguards to ensure their safety and to keep minors away from those locations.
Entertainment venues might also need to be zoned. Longer drinking hours must also be considered in light of the potential for alcohol-related accidents, he added.
List MP Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana (United Thai Nation) expressed similar worries. Police and administrative officials, according to him, must strictly enforce the law and make sure that patrons do not use illegal narcotics or carry weapons in order to protect the safety of the public.
He claimed that individuals who transgress the law must face harsh punishment.
