Bangkok Security Guard Killed in Confrontation with Estranged Wife

Bangkok, February 9 – A security guard was found dead early this morning following a violent altercation with his estranged wife at an apartment complex in Thung Song Hong, Lak Si district.

Police reports indicate that the incident escalated when the man allegedly struck his wife with a gun, prompting her to retaliate with a knife, fatally stabbing him in the neck. The couple had been separated for over three months.

Authorities from Thung Song Hong Police Station responded to the scene at approximately 12:30 AM, accompanied by forensic officers, a Chulabhorn Hospital pathologist, and Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers. The victim, identified as 44-year-old Sitthichai (surname withheld), was found in the apartment’s car park, dressed in his security guard uniform with a motorcycle taxi vest.

A search of the scene uncovered a homemade gun with an unfired shotgun shell, a bullet in the victim’s pocket, and a blood-stained knife in a nearby basket.

The suspect, 49-year-old Somphit (surname withheld), also a security guard, was found at the scene with a head injury and appeared intoxicated. She admitted to stabbing Sitthichai, claiming it was in self-defense after he insulted her and struck her with the gun during a heated argument.

Somphit was initially taken to the hospital for treatment before being detained for further questioning. Police are continuing their investigation before formal charges are filed.
