Bangkok River Boat with 75 tourists on board sinks

River Boat

River sightseeing boat Lai Si Chan 1, with 75 passengers aboard, started taking on water and listing along Chao Praya river in Bangkok on Sunday.

The captain immediately turned for nearest pier after boat became unstable on the water.

The ferry made it to pier just in time to safely disembark passengers.

All were successfully evacuated and no injures have been reported.

The boat then capsized and sank alongside pier, with parts of superstructure remaining above the waterline.
