Bang Saen Beach filled with locals, heavy traffic

Bang Saen Beach

Bang Saen Beach in Chonburi Province is full of local tourists with about 5,000 people on the beach all day long.

Locals are feeling more relaxed and moving back to a normal way of life. Officials are doing their best to enforce safety regulations such as social distancing but they can only do so much.

The busiest time is on the weekends as Bangkokians drive over to the nearest beach for a family mini-vacation.

The road leading to Bang Saen Beach has heavy traffic as tourists line up to find parking at the beach on 3 June 2020, a public holiday for H.M Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana’s Birthday.

The traffic is hardly moving 2 kilometers away from Bang Saen. The beach has officially re-opened after it was shut down due to the Covid-19 situation according to the emergency decree on the 1st of this month.

The beach now has safety regulations tourists and vendors must follow, this is an adjustment to the “New Normal” lifestyle.

The beach is currently free of beach beds and food vendors. Tourists all came prepared with their own picnic mattresses and food to secure their own space on the sand.

Vendors are allowed to come back on the 5th where they will be seen walking back and forth on the beach offering favorite dishes including boiled shrimps, steamed crab, soda drinks, oysters, and som tum known as Papaya Salad.
