Back home with teddy after a week of Covid treatment

The Boon Wipa Rescue Organisation on Tuesday posted photos of a 2-year-old girl being discharged from Ratchapipat Hospital in Bangkok after seven days of treatment for Covid-19

The girl, nicknamed Pimai (New Year), reportedly contracted the virus from her father, who had already been sent to a field hospital.

Her mother was not allowed to take her to the hospital in Thawee Watthana district and could only see her off at the ambulance.

A photo of the girl being taken to the hospital alone while clutching her teddy bear has been circulating on the internet since last week, as netizens prayed for her recovery.

“Pimai was discharged today with doctors saying that there is no trace of the virus left in her body,” said the rescue organisation.

“Our team took her in an ambulance back to her home on Nonsee Road. She is healthy and in very good spirits.”

The organisation has been transporting Covid-19 patients to hospitals since the new wave of infections emerged in Thailand and said it welcomed donations of PPE suits, gowns, biohazard garbage bags and vehicles for transportation.
